half way home

 Morning All

Seven and a half hour coach journey, six hour, forty minutes flight - one more to go and they are all yours!!

Too many memories to mention here but you will have the next few weeks to hear all about the trip.

I will sort out a way of collecting all the photos and videos so we can edit and get a great set of media for those memories.  Usually have an evening presentation around end of September, start of October.

Not long now!

    Words cannot express our gratitude to you Chris for everything you do to organise this trip. Miss. Perks, Miss. Young and Mr. Sylvia too-I’m sure you’ve all had an amazing time but it is no mean feat being responsible for all of our children on a school trip-let alone one to Africa in these times when so many of us have been unable to travel. Hello All,  I would like to start by saying the food here is top notch quality.  The young leaders are all lovely and made todays tournament extremely enjoyable.  We woke up at the crack of dawn, 5am, to ensure we were at the venue at time for the children to have a great day.   The buzz from the school children's chanting was class and very impressive.  The tournament started at around 10am and ended after 5 hours at 3pm.  I got slightly sunburnt, but has disappeared at the time of writing this.  Everyone at the competition was mesmerised by our ages and many accused us of lying, I blame the beard.  We returned back to the camp at around 4pm, shattered and exhausted but very humbled.   Overall, I had a great day and we have had a wonderful time on this trip, I look forward to making more memories here. Today was another coaching day in which we visited 2 schools in the morning (with extremely polite children, all of whom were fully engaged) before returning to camp for lunch.   The first school really highlighted how little these children have as in order to reach the pitch we had to walk 5 minutes through the village.  Everyone was so excited to see us all and we all were swarmed by happy faces at least once during the day. The food here is wonderful and recently lunch has been a sandwich with crisps that, despite the simplicity, have been keeping me going. We also visited a third school in the afternoon, where we just played games with the children, it was clear they loved every minute. On the way back we got pulled over for 'speeding' (3mph over the speed limit - don't worry parents they all had their seatbelts on!), but Mr Horrod used his magical haggling skills - on behalf of the other driver - to lower the fine down from an outrageous £17 t...
