EHS Zambia Tour 2022

 Written by Sophie. Today we went to Victoria Falls! I am so happy that we went there - its one of the 7 natural wonders of the world! When we got there, we saw chunky baboons, they were so cute. Then the group trekked down to the bottom of the pools, and it was so slippery I nearly fell over so many times. When we got down to the bottom, Mr Horrod took a phot of all of us sitting on the rock, and I am 90% sure I had my eyes closed. It was so tiring to go back up, we were all out of breath. The bridge we went across left us so drenched in water and Miss Perks jumping in puddles didn't help us get any drier, although it was funny. When we got to one of the balcony's, I took a photo of James senior but the lighting was so bad. Once we had reached the end of the trek, we could see into Zimbabwe.  Written by Jake Hello family and others.  Today we woke up at 6.30am to get ready for a filling breakfast of scrambled eggs, 2 pieces of toast with butter and marmalade and 2 sausages.  Then we set off for a ten minute walk to the local Rugby Club down the road, to host a tournament for the local schools in Livingstone.  Due to technical errors we had quite a late start.  However, we kept ourselves entertained and waited patiently for the tournament to start.  Once it started I was refereeing for the children under 1.5m.  The first game went well but the children made a few mistakes, like forward passes and one handed pass, but I corrected them on it. Second game went really well because there was little to no mistakes from both sides.  Then, because our pitch only had a few games in total we sorted out the donation bags to give out to the schools whilst the other pitches finished their games.  Written by Alex Hello to all those reading, this morning we completed our last few coaching sessions of the trip.  Each group visited two different schools, however one group had an eventful encounter with tribal Zambians.  Then in the afternoon we all went on a sunset river cruise.  We saw multiple crocodiles and hippos.  We also saw the most beautiful sunset.  The sky was made up of multiple colours and there was not a cloud in sight.  Hundreds of photos were taken, for all of you at home to see. And for my family, there are only 3 more nights until I am on my way back. Written by Kara Today we woke up for breakfast at 8am, but they kind of forgot about us so breakfast was a little later.  Written by Martha This morning we went to safari and saw lots of animals including elephants, giraffes, white rhinos, crocodiles, storks, warthogs, zebras, baboons, hippos, hornbills, wildebeest and lots of impalas.  Unfortunately most of the animals were in the distance so we couldn't see them particularly clearly and the majority of my photos were blurry, but it was still a great experience. At some point during the safari we got out of the jeep and were led to armed guards to 2 white rhinos.  We were told some interesting facts about them, most of which I have forgotten. The only one I remember was the reason for why white rhinos are called that despite not being white.  It turns out it was a misunderstanding.  Basically, they are grazing animals, meaning they eat grass, so they have a wide mouth.  The English, because of this, called them Wide Rhinos but the Dutch misheard it as White Rhinos, now everyone just calls them that.
